Most of the State of Idaho is in Phase 4 of the “rebound to prosperity” plan to address Covid-19. As a result of the restrictions put in place in the past 5 months, cities across the State are dealing with a variety of financial and fiscal impacts depending on their location, size and number of Covid cases. On July 30, City Club of Boise will host a Virtual Conversation with the mayors & city manager of Post Falls, Garden City, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls to learn how each of their cities are being affected financially, and how they are planning for a new economic future. Join us to learn how different areas of the state are managing their resources under Covid.

About the Panel:

Rebecca Casper was re-elected to a second term as Mayor of Idaho Falls in a citywide election in November 2017. Idaho Falls is a city of roughly 63,000 located on the banks of Idaho’s Snake River. Idaho Falls is the largest city east of Idaho’s capitol and it follows the strong mayor model. With six enterprise funds and utilities and an annual budget of approximately $230 million dollars, Idaho Falls one of the most complex cities in the state.

Prior to his election as Mayor in November of 2005, John Evans served on the Garden City Planning & Zoning Commission from 1992-1995 and served for eight years on the Capital Investment Citizens Advisory Committee of the Ada County Highway District.  In 1995 John was elected to the Garden City City Council.  While on the City Council, John served several one-year terms as President of the City Council, Council liaison to the Garden City Police Department and Council liaison to the Library Board, a position he held for ten years. John also serves on the boards of the Community Planning Association (COMPASS) and Valley Regional Transit (VRT).

Mayor Ron Jacobson is currently serving his second term as Mayor of Post Falls. He was first appointed to the City Council in 1999 and elected to three terms on Council and served as Council President from 2012 to 2014. He has served on the Post Falls Parks & Recreation Commission and the Post Falls Urban Renewal Agency. He has served on the boards of various community and non-profit organizations.

Travis Rothweiler took office as the City Manager of Twin Falls in 2011 and is the chief administrative officer of the city. Rothweiler served as the assistant city manager for Twin Falls from 2008 - 2011. As City Manager he is also responsible to the Twin Falls City Council for the management and coordination of all functions of city government.
